Whaddup MTV...

...check out my new crib. Literally:
{Oeuf Sparrow Crib in grey}
Initially we were just going to use S's crib for the baby, but we've been finding out all kinds of horrible things about engineered wood and off-gassing and the long-term health effects it can have on babies, so we decided that it wasn't worth the risk and have forked out some big ones for this solid birch, not-made-in-China beauty.  I just wish we'd known about it when S was born! Or before I upholstered the bed for his big boy room and used plywood to extend the headboard. Now I have to go back and replace it with real wood, which will be a bit of a faff. He's not moving in there for another couple of months though, so I'll worry about that later.

Anyhoo, we were lucky enough to find the crib on Craigslist for considerably less than it costs new, and the one we picked up was apparently only used for six weeks. It looks new, and it is really sturdy - much more so than S's current crib.

Want to see how it's going to work with the rest of the nursery? Here's the design board, which I've tweaked to include some of my more recent design choices:
I am prone to changing my mind rather a lot. It's come a bit of a way from my original plan:
I didn't want to paint the room, so the new version uses the current wall color. I lost the baby blue and pink in favor of turquoise and coral, switched the green accents to lilac and grey, and changed pretty much all the art and the fabrics. It's got a more modern vibe now, which will work better with the industrial feel of our abode, I think, but it's still girly and pretty and colorful. I'll share sources when it's all put together, but if you want more details on anything in the meantime just leave me a comment. :)

Speaking of our abode, our landlord recently informed us that he's listing the condo for short sale. Perfect timing, right?! Okay, I know it's (probably) not really his fault, but he did wait till the month after we renewed our lease to share this info with us (he's thoughtful like that). So there's a good chance we'll be moving in the next few months (most likely to a similar unit close by), and as a result, I'm not planning any projects that we can't take with us; the stenciled wall in the design board is probably not going to happen anymore (*sniff*). I suppose the down-side of having a landlord nice enough to let us paint and personalize the place is that I'm pretty sure we've just made it easier for him to sell. Bah.

Finally, if you've joined me via Linky Followers - hi! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I promise I am not ignoring you all - I am looking forward to checking out all your blogs just as soon as I have time! It's been a bit rushed trying to prep for the baby - maybe I'll get a chance to catch up on my blog reading in the hospital once she makes her arrival! :)
